The story of the leather earrings

I love designing with various mediums. My late mother and grandmother have been my inspiration and role models. I have been doing various creative works since childhood. When I started working for the United Nations, the first Club I joined was the Camera Club. It was vibrant and very inspiring group of UN staff at the time. They had approached me to display my works at the Secretariat's South Lobby. I then dabbled with sawing. I never liked sawing growing up. My mother would finish my designs. However, in my 20s I had great job, missed my family as I was away from everyone. I had plenty of free time after work. One of my girlfriends asked me if I wanted to buy a sewing machine. It was heavy industrial solid, for $35. I figured if I don't use it, it would be fine. At that time there was Woolworth at the corner of 42nd Street and 3rd ave. Right now CVS occupies it. They used to sell fabric also. I bought this beautiful tropical fabric and decided to make my first skirt, al

Online fashion social sites - your fashion social bookmarking forums

Isn't the internet wonderful? Fashionistas could congregate to various social fashion sites. They share what they find online and present it in wonderful ways. My favorites are Kaboodle and CHIQ. Due to lack of time, I haven't been at Kaboodle for over 6 months. As to CHIQ, it's new discovery for me. I like both of them. Kaboodle is more about fashion and gifts, whereas CHIQ is about fashion. Check them out: http://www.chiq.com and http://www.kaboodle.com There are some other such as stylehive, stylefeeder and wists to mention a few. If you know of others that you would recommend, please leave a comment and I'll check them out If you have account there, let me know your id and I would love to follow your fashion selections.

Creativity in technology - TUMO Center in Yerevan

Armenians throughout the ages had to leave their homeland due to calamities and hard times in the homeland. Wherever they have settled they have enriched those cultures. Polish people call Armenians "the salt of the earth" - Armenians have contributed so much to civilizations, however over the ages it's lost in history. It's so refreshing to see now Armenians enriching the homeland, the 1/10th of historic lands left, live and independent. However there are many challenges. Watching this new cutting edge technology live today gives so much hope and inspires. So happy to see Armenians now fertlizing the homeland with their creativity. Thanks to Hrag Vartanian for this information: Watch Opening of Yerevan's Cutting Edge TUMO Center LIVE NOW! On Monday, August 14, the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies will officially open to the public. I wish you Enough !

Here is yet another email that has been making the rounds every so often. Today received this and sharing with you. Very inspiring and puts things in our life in focus. Instead of resending to all my friends, I'll post it here for you to read, whenever you get a chance. This one was sent to me by Janet D. I wish you Enough! Recently I overheard a Father and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure. Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the Father said, 'I love you, and I wish you enough.' The daughter replied, 'Dad, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Dad.' They kissed and the daughter left. The Father walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see he wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed me in by asking, 'Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would

The Green Thing

Every now an then we get lots of precious emails from dear friends. Today's was yet another important one, a reminder about the way things were and why we are now so much into the "green thing". Read on and you'll see how far off we are from "green thing" and decide for yourself. Thanks to Mary D'C. for this email: The Green Thing In the line at the store, the cashier told an older woman that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment. The woman apologized to him and explained, "We didn't have the green thing back in my day."
