One hundred and fifty years ago, a wealthy merchant, owner of fishing enterprises throughout the Transcaucasia, an honorary citizen (mokalake), the mayor of Tiflis in 1856-1862, Vardan Arshakuni built a huge building, which is still called "Arshakuni Palace". Nowadays - Tbilisi State Academy of Arts.
